“The amount of the family allowance, which has not changed since 2008, should be doubled. The lowest amount is HUF 12,200 per month, the highest is HUF 25,900, depending the number and health condition of children. The Hungarian Anti-Poverty Network’s Dignified Living Working Group calculates that the cost for diapers for a baby add up to 9-10 thousand forints per month alone. Because of the amount being so low, the organization has launched an online petition to make decision-makers at least double the family allowance and allocate the necessary funds in the 2019 national budget.
